     works

One of the common misconceptions of Habitat is that you will get a free home built for you and you will just move in.

Habitat Homes usually range in the neighborhood of $50,000 - $70,000. The homeowner will pay that loan back interest free, with monthly payments not to exceed 30% of the family's income.

As a Habitat homeowner you will be required to help out with construction with sweat equity time of 250 hours. That breaks down to just over 10 days of work, in the big picture of home construction that is a small price to pay.

If you aren't experienced with construction, don't worry. Our volunteers are former building contractors and home builders. We will help you learn some skills that you previously thought you might never attain.

If you are still reading this, that means you are serious about becoming a Habitat homeowner. Continue reading below for the necessary steps to make your dream a reality.

If you are interested in becoming a Habitat homeowner you will need to go through a selection process. Check to see if you meet the guidelines for income.

You will need to fill out and submit a pre-application. We have made it easy to do so with our online form.

Apply now »

We will review your application, run a credit check and let you know what we find out.

If you are approved through the pre-app process we will then move on to the formal application. Our Family Selection Coordinator will be available throughout the entire process. They will guide you through all of the necessary doors in order to get your application approved.

Once your formal application is approved our Construction Chairmen will personally sit down with you to select a floor plan. We will work closely with you to create a new home that will suit you style and personality.

We have a ground breaking ceremony at the site of your new home, then construction begins. Once construction is complete, we will have a formal dedication ceremony where we hand you the keys to your very own home.
